August Challenge … be careful what you ask for

Yesterday I declared my intention to set a challenge for August.  I mentioned that some people do 30 day squat challenges and asked “Who would want to do that?”.

What I actually meant was “who in their right mind would want to do that” but no, my gorgeous friend misread this and offered her support!

Now take into consideration that this is a friend who does spinning classes and Iron Man type challenges when the only form of physical activity I have done in the last year is walking to the car!  Then add to this that I am the type of person who finds it hard to turn down a challenge  (as any of my friends who remember me from my “Magic” days will know too well).  I am also the type of person who doesn’t like to say no, so when she offered to do this with me, I couldn’t say no.  (Charlie also knows me from my Magic days so she would have just thrown down the gauntlet, knowing I am trained to pick it up).

image-1After a few month’s absence – my mojo has recently returned, so I told myself that this little challenge will help to keep my mojo here.  Unfortunately, after just one day  and 50 squats (yes 50 on day 1!!!), my thighs and butt are already trying to find the Mojo off switch (and I am offering to help)!

Ouch, ouch and ouch again!

Just as I had finished and was lying on the floor thinking “I have to learn how to say no”, our local BBC Radio station decided to ring and ask me to do a live interview tomorrow morning.  Can I share with you that trying to answer questions about whether SEN is over diagnosed to compensate for inadequate teaching – and sound professional – was very difficult when all I wanted to say was “ouch, ouch, 50 times ouch”. It was yet another challenge – but once again, I took the challenge and they were none the wiser!

So tonight will be spent compiling views and getting prepared for an early start (why is it always the Breakfast Show who want to chat).  At the same time, I will be liberally applying Deep Heat from the waist to the knees.  An early start, a live interview and thighs which are definitely going to be unhappy, tomorrow should be fun!

Wish me luck – I have another 50 squats to do tomorrow.
