You are not everyone’s cup of tea – #TheMMLinky
It’s Monday Motivation time again.
This week I want to share with you one of my all time favourite quotes.
The world is filled with people who, no matter what you do, no matter what you try, will simply not like you. tweet
But the world is also filled with those who will love you fiercely. The ones who love you: they are your people. tweet
Don’t waste your finite time and heart trying to convince people who aren’t your people that you have value. They will miss it completely. tweet
They won’t buy what you are selling. tweet
Don’t try to convince them to walk your path with you because you will only waste your time and your emotional good health. tweet
You are not for them and they are not for you. You are not their cup of tea and they are not yours. tweet
Politely wave them along and you move away as well. tweet
Seek to share your path with those who recognise and appreciate your gifts. tweet
Be who you are. tweet
You are not everyone’s cup of tea and that is OK. tweet
It took me a long time to appreciate the value of this.
I cannot count the hours I have wasted trying to convince people who are not my people that I have value. I am saddened at the hours I have wasted wondering how to get someone on board while ignoring the people, my tribe, who are already on board.
Thankfully as the years have progressed, this is less of a common theme and more of an occasional blip.
I thought about this quote when I watched the lovely Brene Brown‘s video on Marie TV. Both of these ladies are worth a follow if you don’t already.
As Brene says if you have to change to fit in with them, then you “may fit in for them but you no longer belong to yourself”.
Do not negotiate your worth or belonging. You are you. You are unique. You are not everyone’s cup of tea. And that is okay.

I think I finally got this, about a year or 2 ago.
No f**ks shall be given.
You don’t like me? Don’t be around me. You don’t like the way I look? Don’t look! I’m me, there’s no-one meer than me x

Good girl. It took me a long time but I find myself going back to this when I’m ill or tired. Thankfully it doesn’t last.
I am my own cup of tea!
Love this Debs. I tried for too long to ‘fit in’ and now I just don’t give a rat’s ass! Those that love me for who I am are all I need and that’s that. Thanks for linking up! x
Love this “But the world is also filled with those who will love you fiercely.”
